MULTIPLE fire crews tackled a fire at a house in Penarth last night, May 9.

The entire length of Cliff Street was closed off from Queens Road south to Lord Street.

There have been no reports for any injuries.

South Wales Fire and Rescue attended reports of a fire at the property at 4.55pm.

Two hose reel jets had to be used to put out the fire with the fire service in attendance for almost three hours, eventually leaving the scene at twenty to eight.

A fire engine was parked up outside the property with hose reels snaking across the surfaces of Cliff Street and onto Queens Road where the fire service was drawing water.

Residents of Cliff Street could be seen sitting and standing out in the road while the fire service carried out their work.

Just along from the bustling Pilot pub where people were outside enjoying a drink in the sun, three fire service SUVs were parked along with the multitude of cars normally parked along Queens Road.

Fire crews from both Cardiff and Penarth tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service went into detail about the equipment used.

“At approximately 4.55pm South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire at a domestic property in Cliff Street, Penarth.

“Crews from Cardiff Central and Penarth were deployed to the scene and equipment used included; four breathing apparatus’, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, one positive pressure ventilation fan and one thermal imaging camera.

“A stop message was given at 7.39pm.”
